Smart crosswalk

System overview

“There are zombies traveling on roads.
‘Smombie’ traffic accidents reached 61.7%”

Jaywalking and careless walking in crosswalk can lead to accidents. Traffic accidents especially involving pedestrians who are focused on smart phones and can’t recognize surrounding situations, so-called smombies, occupy about 62% in all pedestrian traffic accidents, becoming a serious social problem.
The smart safe pedestrian crossing system prevents jaywalking and traffic accidents in crosswalk caused by careless pedestrians by applying voice warnings, announcements and a function for shutting off smart phone displays.

Announcements for warning pedestrians of jaywalking and voice guide for safe walking

Red signal voice guide

Announcements to pedestrians attempting jaywalking in stop signals
- For moving from a sidewalk to a roadway “Red light is on. It is dangerous, so don’t enter the roadway!” - For moving from a roadway to a sidewalk “Red light is on. Move to a safe sidewalk!” - For intruding into sidewalk boundary stones “Jaywalking is dangerous. Please move back!”

Green signal voice guide

Information about methods for crossing safely, such as forward carelessness prevention
- Voice guide for crossing roads “Cross the road after watching all directions carefully for your safety.” - Information about prevention of accidents “Don’t use smart phones in crosswalk.” - When flash signal is on “It is dangerous, wait for the next signal.”

Safe crosswalks keeping safety of students

When people stand in front of crosswalks when a red light is on after installing the smart phone application, an announcement saying “It is dangerous, so don’t enter the roadway” comes out and smart phone displays change.

A precaution phrase appears on displays with a red warning telling ‘STOP’ while moving from crosswalks. When people cross roads, displays return to normal.

Students can cross roads safely without being absorbed in smart phones using smart phone automatic blocking service. When parents put safety applications on smart phones of their children, those phones block displays by themselves in crosswalks without executing them separately.
